AFRIFF 2024 Globe Awards Winners – Celebrating Stories from “Indigenous to Global”

With AFRIFF 2024 now concluded, we want to express our deepest gratitude for joining us in this journey from “Indigenous to Global: Cultural Wealth to Global Prosperity.” This year’s festival has been an unforgettable celebration of African stories and the power of cinema to connect cultures across the world. We are thrilled to announce the winners of the AFRIFF Globe Awards, honouring the incredible talent and creativity that made this year’s event so extraordinary.

A Word from the AFRIFF 2024 Jury
Our esteemed jury, led by Wafa’a Celine Halawi and including Stephen “Dr” Love, Ego Boyo, Dennis Ruh, Victor Okhai, Cynthia Okoye, Yolanda Mogatusi, and Lanre Olupona, shared these heartfelt words:

“Under the powerful banner ‘Indigenous to Global,’ we witnessed the richness of culture transformed into cinematic artistry. Across the globe, stories have been untold or misrepresented, but AFRIFF is bridging these gaps by bringing forth the depth of African experiences. This festival embodies the human mission of sharing the narratives that unite us.”

Juror Stephen Dr Love emphasized, “Stories are indigenous too, constituting cultural wealth and shaping mainstream narratives. Films allow us to see the world differently, reminding us we are all indigenous to the same earth.”

Ego Boyo added, “A good film relates to the collective experience, stimulating thought and conversation. We were honored to select winners from a deeply talented pool, whose works echo themes of memory, family, and legacy.”
