Hollywood’s Grant Housley is no stranger to Nigeria’s film and storytelling space. As a co-collaborator and lead lecturer for the Del-York Creative Academy, he has successfully hosted television and film intensives in Nigeria where aspiring filmmakers across the African continent learn all aspects of television and film production.
Grant Housley found success early in his career by gaining the interest of Hollywood creatives with a script he penned while still in film school. His talents continued to afford him career changing opportunities to work at prominent studios like Disney Studios and his current place of employment, Paramount Pictures where he worked on some of the biggest films and most critically acclaimed television series in the world.
As a filmmaker, Grant directed several hit short films such as Fade Away, The Angel of St. Catherine’s Academy, Hide & Seek, Exemplary and Treachery in Boyle Heights. His work grabbed the attention of several Hollywood producers who enlisted him to collaborate on projects as a writer, director, and producer with some of the industry’s leading talent. Most notable are for short films Caged with executive producer Robert Munic, Children of the Sun with executive producer Lee Aronsohn and the critically acclaimed short One Dark Night, which won over 15 awards.
A strong believer in making an impact, Grant shares his experiences and lends his professional talents in classrooms, conferences and workshops around the world. He’s worked with entities such as the New York Film Academy as an instructor; Miami Film Festival as a board member and featured speaker since 2017; and has been actively involved with nonprofit organisations such as Kids In The Spotlight for over a decade. To date, he has instructed over 3,000 students from the US, UK and Africa; many of whom have achieved great success in their filmmaking careers.
While in Nigeria, Grant was a guest at the MultiChoice Talent Factory screening day. He also attended the Digital Content creators brunch, where he sat on a panel and interacted with Nigerian content creators. At the ‘Hollywood Meets’ brunch, Grant shared his experiences in Hollywood with guests before attending the Nominees gala held that night.
