Hajia Hafsat Oduwole Balewa, the esteemed Chairman of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFZT), held a pivotal meeting on May 31, 2023, with local kings and community leaders to address the pressing issue of land encroachment within the region. The meeting witnessed the presence of Barrister Femi Olunubi, the Head of Litigation at the Ogun State Bureau of Lands and Survey, who provided a comprehensive briefing to community representatives. Barrister Olunubi outlined the proactive measures being taken by the government to reclaim the lands encroached upon by certain individuals in the Igbesa community. He also elucidated the vital role the government would play in acquiring these lands for the benefit of the OGFZT.
During the meeting, Hajia Hafsat Oduwole Balewa addressed the community leaders, emphasizing the significant benefits the Free Trade Zone continues to bring to the people of Igbesa. She highlighted the need for the community to refrain from encroaching upon the lands designated for the zone’s development. Hajia Balewa reiterated that the OGFZT is poised to attract more investors in the near future, necessitating the availability of additional lands for the establishment of new companies. Furthermore, she shared her commitment to facilitating employment opportunities within the zone for the indigenes of Igbesa and outlined her plans to bring further development to the community.
The meeting witnessed the presence of distinguished royal fathers, including HRM Oba Abdul Azeez Oluwatoyin Akinde FCA, Oloja Ekun of Igbesa; HRH Oba (Engr.) Nurudeen Oshoja, Onikogbo of Ikogbo Land; and HRH Oba Shitu Bangboso, Onikoyi of Agelete. Their presence underscored the importance of fostering collaboration and strengthening the bond between the OGFZT and the community for mutual growth and development.
