Ikare Land – In a bid to quell the ongoing crisis that has plagued the city, the indigenes of Ikare Land, including high chiefs and prominent community members, joined forces with the youths to convene at the Palace of Olukare of Ikare Land, HRM Akadiri Momoh, on Monday, July 17,2023.
Led by High Chief Olokedogo Of Okoja Ikare-Akoko, the concerned indigenes expressed their deep concerns over the unrest that has gripped their beloved city. During his speech, Chief Olokedogo began by offering prayers for Kabiesi Olukare and extended well wishes for his long life. He then emphasized the collective desire of the Ikare Indigenes to avoid any form of conflict or warfare within their community.
Highlighting a specific source of the crisis, Chief Olokedogo raised allegations against a certain commissioner whom he claimed was sponsoring the unrest. The commissioner in question, Hon. Olootu Faitai Aburumaku-Orege, hails from Akunnu-Akoko in Ondo State. The high chief addressed the issue, calling for an end to the commissioner’s involvement in Ikare affairs and urging him to return to his hometown.
Chief Olokedogo emphasized that the people of Ikare were weary of the turmoil and sought nothing but peace. He took the opportunity to send a stern warning to Orege, who has been identified as a source of trouble. The Ikare indigenes, united in their resolve, urged Orege to desist from causing further disruptions in the city.
The gathering of Ikare community chiefs and youths, alongside Gbobaniyi of Ikare, declared that enough is enough. At the meeting, they made a unanimous decision to dissociate themselves from Hon. Commissioner Olootu Faitai Aburumaka-Orege and demanded that he refrain from interfering in Ikare matters. They also urged him to return to his home town of Akunnu Akoko.
With the Ikare indigenes standing united, their resolve for peace and harmony in their city is unwavering. The coming days will reveal the impact of this gathering and whether it will lead to a resolution of the ongoing crisis, allowing Ikare Land to regain its tranquility and prosperity.
