Alot of times when competitions and reality shows are held, it is generally believed that the winner of such competition is the ‘best’ among other competitors, and as such there is a high level of expectation from fans.
One of such competitions that leaves viewers waiting with baited breath for the winner to be announced is ‘The Voice Nigeria’. Even as Nigerian music continues to gain global accolades and recognition, the popular TV show is best known for recognizing, training and unveiling the best singing talents from the country.
On Saturday, 24th July 2021, The Voice Nigeria season 3 came to an end with KPEE, Esther and Eazzie as finalists and Esther emerging as the season’s winner. Though the three finalists promised to continue on the path of music and deliver top notch records. Fans of the show and particularly the finalists have however been left in the cold with no new music from the finalists with the exception of KPEE who seems to be the only finalist doing music and waxing stronger daily.
A quick flash back to the media interview following the conclusion of the show, the winner, Esther Benyeogo spoke about her music saying “The Voice Nigeria has given me wings to fly and follow my dreams, which is exactly what I would be doing moving forward”.
In the words of the first runner up, Kpee; “Right from the start, I had always loved pop music. I know the right guidance was all I needed to shine and I have been lucky to learn from both Coach Darey and Coach Falz, I have learnt so much than I bargained for”. while Eazzie claimed she would continue with music on a full scale using the lessons and tips she got from her coach (Coach Waje) and from the show.
Without mincing words, Esther Benyeogo and Eazzie have thus far failed to deliver on the expectations of fans and audience alike as nothing has been seen or heard from them in the music industry ever since The Voice Nigeria Finale. Looking around and snooping through their social media space, one can see little or no activity from Esther and Eazzie, while Kpee’s music and youthfulness has gained him a whole lot of fans and popularity in the music industry.
From the blind auditions to the main competition, Kpee displayed his creativity, vocal prowess, and entertaining performance, thus wooing the heart of the audience that earned him the moniker ‘the next Davido’. Not resting on his oars, after the show, he went on to release several singles, performed alongside several industry heavyweights like Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Fireboy amongst others, and currently he’s signed to one of Africa’s leading record labels, Cloud Nine Records.
With his track record, talent and work rate, industry pundits can confidently say Kpee has come here to stay, the 22 years old singer would definitely be on people’s lips for a long time, most especially amongst the younger generation commonly known as the Gen Z. What more can we say, but to ask, ‘what else have Kpee got up his sleeves’?
