Ahead of the November 16th Local Government elections in Ogun State, Labour Party chieftain and 2023 senatorial candidate Wale Kuku has expressed high confidence in his party’s readiness to dominate and win, despite the tight timelines set by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC).
During a virtual meeting with pressmen in Abeokuta on Thursday, Kuku outlined the party’s active preparation and the groundwork already laid to ensure community-level support and transparent election processes.
Speaking about the outcome of the Local Government Election in other states across the nation, where the ruling party in the states swept the polls by winning all the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions, Kuku said “the people love the Labour Party. We have spent the last 8-weeks going from door to door and having community meetings which we tag Family Gathering. We’ve also been executing people based programs in the past 2 yrs through the New Generation Foundation. Our candidates are superior to other party candidates in form of qualifications, manifesto, achievements and integrity. We have Doctors, academics, market women and more contesting as councillors.”
“LP members are not typical Politicians but ordinary Nigerians from all walks of life that have an undying passion for Nigeria. And despite the fact that the tendency for manipulation, we remain resolute and we are ready to protect our votes this time around. We have our strategies to counter every ugly plan that might be carried out by our opponents.”
On the plans of the Labour Party for the state, Wale Kuku said, “We are taking Ogun state to the next level. Our mandate is beyond paying salaries and repairing roads; the LGA chairmen and councillors that the LP is bound to produce, would be partners in progress with the state government, not withstanding the party, towards taking our dear state and communities to the Next level. Next level of governance with our community governance approach, next level in developing a modernised Economy powered by agriculture, entrepreneurship, technology, skills development, 21st century education, clean energy and more. We are promising a government built on compassion, love and care. A New Ogun is Possible”.
