Congratulations to My ‘I-Can-Do-It-All’ Husband, Reuben Abati ✨
A massive congratulations to you, Oko-Kike, on your latest academic achievement—your Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD) from the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria’s first-choice institution! After 5 years of hard work, you’ve proven yet again that excellence is not an act but a habit.
Continuous knowledge is power, but as I always say, ‘Oga, you have nothing left to prove!’ With your long list of qualifications both home and abroad, this is yet another feather to your already heavily adorned cap. However, now is the time to consolidate your legacy. What do you truly want to be remembered for? Beyond being a veteran journalist, politician, statesman, incoming author, intellectual giant, and thought leader, how can you leave a lasting, direct impact that uplifts the next generation? Mainland in character but global in influence. Ruby, We need leaders in this country who embody integrity, wisdom, and courage.
On a personal note, this achievement is so much more than a degree—it’s a testament to resilience and partnership. Amidst sleepless nights, life’s challenges, demanding careers, and family commitments, we did it. Yes, ‘we,’ because we started this together. Some people doubted that you would see it through, especially given the time you devoted to our relationship at the start, but I knew better. I stood firm, knowing our love story is intricately tied to this journey. From seeing you off to UNILAG to sitting with you through the long nights after my own demanding days, to those 5-hour phone calls at the beginning of our relationship—it all makes this victory ours today.
This achievement reflects the strength behind the saying, ‘BEHIND every successful man, there is a woman,’ but let me add—‘BESIDE every successful man is a woman who believes.’ I believed in you,& here we are today.
I am beyond proud of you, not just for adding to your list of qualifications, but for continuously contributing to society with your knowledge, wisdom, &experiences. You inspire me &many others to keep pushing boundaries & redefining excellence.
Oko-Kike, you are one of one✍️
