The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT patrol team in a significant operation carried out on 27 September 2023, resulted in the apprehension of individuals impersonating Nigerian Navy personnel and engaging in fraudulent activities within the vicinity.
At approximately 1530 local time on the mentioned date, NNS BEECROFT patrol team, acting on intelligence, conducted a raid on a premise situated at Akabueze Street, Bashorun, Ajah, Lagos State. The operation was a response to suspected fraudulent activities orchestrated by these impostors posing as Nigerian Navy personnel who carry out nefarious activities like extortion and intimidation of residents, among other despicable acts.
The raid at Akabueze Street led to the apprehension of 6 impostors dentified as, Mr Sylvester Chukwuedo
Mr Oludipe Rotimi , Mr Emmanuel Chukwuedo , Mr leanard Okonye Mr Dominic Nwabueze and Mrs Akinola Abidemi . Additionally, 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles were seized, along with counterfeit Nigerian Navy identification cards and other related documents.
Notably, the apprehended vehicles bearing the inscription “SAIL NAVY”, along with the suspects and recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the appropriate agency for further investigation and prosecution.
The Nigerian Navy, under the astute leadership of Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, reaffirms its commitment to thwarting all forms of illegalities and to prevent law abiding citizens from being swindled by unpatriotic individuals.
The Naval Base BEECROFT also remains resolute in upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of the public, which is essential for the economic prosperity of our nation.
