Veteran actress Ini Edo has revealed her reasons for choosing to work on My Fairytale Wedding. In an interview, she mentioned that the relatability of the story was a pertinent reason why she decided to work on the project.
“There’s a rave about marriage and about what marriage is supposed to be and at what age everybody is supposed to get married. Obviously, it’s a major societal issue. Everyone can relate to the issue of pressure to be married at a certain point in one’s life or not getting married at all,” she said.
In a recent interview, Ini Edo revealed that marriage was not a priority for her. Her love life has increasingly become a topic of interest as she sparked excitement in September by sharing a wedding announcement to tease her forthcoming show My Fairytale Wedding.
Directed by Dimeji Ajibola, “My Fairytale Wedding” follows the journey of a young woman who, with the aid of magic (Kayanmata), captures the heart of Lagos’ most eligible bachelor. The show poses the question: Does this enchantment lead to true love?
Featuring a list of stars, including major names like Ramsey Nouah, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Shaffy Bello, Ayo Mogaji, Tina Mba, and Lilian Esoro, My Fairytale Wedding tells the story of a woman pushed by societal pressure to make an unusual decision.
For Ini Edo, being a part of this project is in line with her vision to continue to tell relatable stories that showcase women positively and spotlight their struggles as everyday Africans from a uniquely African perspective.
“I would like to tell stories that sort of give women a certain visibility that they need to have and showcase women in their full strength. I’d like to tell stories that elevate women in every way possible,” she added.
