After a closely contested election, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, emerged victorious, defeating 12 other candidates, including Oladipupo Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party. The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Abiodun winner after he received 276,298 votes in the governorship election held on Saturday.
To celebrate his victory, many of his associates paid a visit to his house to congratulate him, including Hajia Hafsat Oduwole-Balewa, the Chairperson of the Ogun-Guandong Free Trade Zone, who played a significant role in campaigning for Abiodun’s re-election.
Hajia expressed her excitement, stating that the will of the people always prevails. She praised Abiodun for providing the citizens of Ogun State with the dividends of democracy during his last four years in office and was not surprised that the people re-elected him. She described Abiodun as a man of the people and congratulated both him and the people of Ogun State on the victory. She also expressed confidence that he would continue to do well in his next four years in office.
