Mr Oladimeji Emmanuel, a member of Redeemed Christian of Church of God has said that Prophet Isreal Oladele Ogundipe was unfairly criticized for speaking on his preferred presidential candidate following Prophet Isa El-Buba’s public declaration of his support for Peter Obi.
Last week, Prophet Isreal Oladele Ogundipe was seen in a viral video speaking about his choice of candidacy which has been generating a lot of reactions.
“I support Tinubu. You know why? Because if I see another Yoruba person I will support them. That is the only Yoruba person I am seeing.” The outspoken clergyman said.
Similarly, Prophet Isa El-Buba endorsed Peter Obi while reacting to a viral video by activist Shehu Mahdi in which he told Northern Christians that if there is a problem in the South, they will be killed because to Southerners a Northern Christian is a Northerner.
Reacting to Shehu Mahdi’s video, Prophet Isa El-Buba called the activist a liar. He said he is a Northern Christian whose church is located in the South. He also declared to support and vote for Peter Obi.
“I want to make an address for one minute, there’s one man called Mahdi Usman who spoke a few days ago. And try to speak lies against the Southerns church and against the Southerners that we Northerners that are christians will come to the south and find it difficult to get a land to worship God, and I want to say to you that Mahdi Usman you are a liar, that’s not true.
“I am a Northerner and I am preaching here in the south. And I want to say that it’s time for the lies that some of you have been lying for 62 years, that the end of your lies has come. You northern christians and northern muslims will prove to these wicked men and women that your time is up. And in 2023 we are all going to vote for Peter Obi” El-Buba said.
While it seems as though people see nothing wrong in Prophet Isa El-Buba’s declaration on his choice of candidate, Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe received serious bashing for supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s candidacy.
Sharing his thoughts on the issue, Mr Oladimeji said: “One of the things I hate about this generation is our hypocrisy and one sidedness when it comes to issues. I have received several calls in the last few weeks about my opinion after the misconstrued video of Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe Genesis went viral where he said he was going to vote for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“I intentionally stayed mute when I saw many popular Christian leaders and several people coming for the man just because he aired his personal opinion on his choice of candidate which is supposed to be his fundamental human right. First of all, let me tell you guys that there are always two sides to a coin, even if the devil himself is brought out for election, he will have people who will go with him based on whatever reasons.
“Now look at the video I just posted, Prophet Issa El Buba is one of Nigeria’s respected spiritual leaders who has publicly come out to speak on the candidate he wants his followers to vote for and the ones he wants them to vote out. He has only spoken on his choice and I don’t see that as a big deal. But why is that not raising any uproar. Everyone has the right to love and vote for anybody they like. The person you call darkness may be light to another person. You don’t have to abuse the characters because he has aired his or her opinion on who to vote for.” he tweeted.
