In this light, an aspirant for the House of Representatives (Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East Federal Constituency) of Imo State, Honourable Chibuzor Edwin Okolie (CEO) via the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown the spanner into works to organize a peace walk in Owerri, the Imo State capital, aimed at galvanizing the electorate for election mobilization and protection of values which would promote peace and tolerance in the South Eastern State.
The promoter and head honcho of popular hospitality entity, “Ediz Wine Bar” nestled in the Garden City of Port Harcourt intends to apply his business acumen acquired in Nigeria’s burgeoning tourism sector to represent his constituency in Nigeria’s National Assembly.
The former Aspirant into the Imo House of Assembly has paid his dues in the political terrain and desires to deploy his proposed pet initiative, christened, “Waka for Peace” to foster unity, peaceful coexistence and harmony amongst the residents of Imo State.
The health and fitness exercise will start at Wetheral Road and terminate at ICC for peace talk and freedom concert 2022.
It is of note that the preponderance of insecurity in Imo state has risen to alarming levels in recent time, sending most residents into a state of perpetual fear. Its manifestations are seen in banditry, kidnapping, including wanton killings and destruction of innocent lives and property.
“CEO”; the businessman turned politician desires to contribute to the growth and development of his state via this laudable initiative while pursuing his political ambition which has today been described by many as a new vista in Imo State.
It promises to be an action packed event with civil society organizations, the Media, private organizations, Market associations and others signifing intentions to participate.
It is a noble thing that the “CEO” Waka for Peace initiative seeks to bring healing and harmony to Imo State; an initiative that must be encouraged and supported by all.
