Anyim Pius Anyim, a presidential aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) has asked Nigerians to trust him and chose him as President in the forthcoming elections and has told Nigerians why he should be trusted. During an interview with Arise TV, he was asked by one of the panellists, why Nigerians should do so.
It is no longer news that Nigerians have little to no trust left for politicians. This is due to how they have run the political affairs of the country till date. Anyim Pius Anyim however believes that he can buck the trend, and has stated that he has the proven experience to back his claim.
To answer the question, Anyim referred them back to his tenure as the Senate president. In his words, “I inherited a very troubled senate and I brought stability to the senate. I want to say that I will bring stability to this nation.”
He further pointed to his term as the SGF. He also noted; “I was secretary to the government of the federation and if you check, you will also know that I was able to help the president deal with some governance issues, and that struck a balance in that administration. I was at the centre of that administration.”
Basing his argument and call for the trust of Nigerians on two successful tenures serving in the federal capacity, Anyim Pius Anyim believes that he has done enough, to prove to Nigerians that he has their absolute best at heart.
Anyim and other political aspirants have a huge job on their hands. They have to convince Nigerians to trust them and go out for them during the forthcoming elections. The elections in 2023 will have a significant role to play in the development of the nation and the citizens are careful, not to have a repeat of the current administration.
While he is yet to secure the party’s ticket to run, Anyim Pius Anyim is leading the unofficial polls, as most people are touting him as the favourite candidate. Many Nigerians are familiar with his works and as a result, will be eager to see him bring his Midas touch to all parts of the country.
